J R Scientific, Inc. (JRS), headquartered in Woodland, California, was started in mid 1979. Early products produced by the company were used as components by diagnostic kit manufacturers. JRS expanded its product line extensively into large animal sera, protein extraction from tissues, fractionation of sera proteins, Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) and cell culture reagents. J R Scientific was one of the first companies in the US to have a cGMP compliant manufacturing facility for all cell culture products.
